MY 3 DAY JUICE DETOX WITH PUREBERRY

juice detox
I am generally not one who partakes in fad diets just to see quick results, but for the past couple of months I have been traveling non stop and constantly eating out due to my busy schedule. Of course I know this isn't good for me and I really do try to lead a balanced lifestyle, but sometimes it can be difficult not to indulge when I am at events and restaurants with clients.

I tend to work out 3-4 times a week (I know I should increase this but I must admit I have my lazy moments.) I know what foods work for my body and what foods don't work for me, but I do slip up now and then.
As a result of traveling across the globe, on pretty much a weekly basis since January, I decided to take it upon myself to do a 3 day juice cleanse, while I had some time at home before I jetted off to the next location. I mean it's only 3 days, so how hard can that be? Before I started the juice detox, I read a lot about what it entailed and what to do before, during and after the detox. Mentally preparing myself for the next 3 days, I was excited for the challenge.

I have been a fan of Pureberry smoothies since they opened at Bryanston Shopping Centre. Treating myself once in a while to a delicious smoothie helped me get through the week. Never thinking about juice detoxes before, I had seen Pureberry advertise various detox programmes. One being a Weight Loss detox, another being a PH Balance cleanse and the third package being a Skin Rejuvenator cleanse. Of course having picked up weight since the beginning of the year, I decided to do the Weight Loss detox.
The only time I had to start the juice detox was a Thursday to a Saturday, as I was flying off again on the Sunday. I think having started a juice detox over the weekend, when everyone is having a good time with food and wine, was a little difficult, but it was the only time I had.
Early on day one, I went to Pureberry to collect my 12 juices for the next 3 days. Full of excitement, I didn't think drinking 6 juices per day would be difficult at all and was actually worried I would be hungry. To my surprise, I could not finish 6 juices on my first day and only had 4. They are extremely filling but are really hard to swallow as the taste is awful. The breakfast and dinner juice was rather delicious (compared to the other 4 juices), but the rest of the day was the most challenging for me.
Day two and three were the most difficult days for me. It wasn't difficult in the sense that I was hungry, because I really didn't feel hungry when I had the juices. It was just really difficult because the juices tasted either like nothing or like cold vegetable soup (which to me, is the most awful taste ever). I know I may be dramatic but honestly, this was the hardest challenge I had ever faced with food.

After the three days, I hadn't finished all the juices and froze the rest for the next week when I had returned from my trip.

Although, I didn't notice any weight loss during the detox, I did have more energy and my skin did look a lot more refreshed.
I think if you want to challenge yourself to a juice detox, make sure you can finish 6 juices a day and make sure you have time on your hands to really focus on the cleanse. I suppose if I had more time, less stress and felt more relaxed, maybe then I would have seen results.
Despite having to give up coffee for three days and only consuming 3 to 4 juices a day, I will definitely do this juice detox again, when I have more time on my hands.
